Before I started working on my Web Quest, I did not know that making a robot walk like a human was so difficult. The way people walk is called 'dynamic walking.' In 'dynamic walking,' when someone takes a step forward, they get just off balance, as if they are about to fall forward. Right before losing their balance people throw one of their feet ahead for support. This series of movements, when repeated, becomes a walk. The process of walking involves hundreds of specific motions. Each step people take not only requires their feet to propel them forward, but their hips, spine, arms, shoulders, and head all have to move together, just to sustain balance.
I also did not know that...
Some robots can balance on a sphere. Some robots can use roller skates.
